5 Calming Essential Oil Blends for Stress Relief and Peaceful Living with Aromatherapy Tips for Families
Welcome to Lavender Mountain Farm, where I share my passion for using essential oils to create peace and calm in our busy lives. As a mom and wellness coach, I know firsthand how overwhelming life can be—whether it’s juggling family responsibilities, managing work, or just trying to keep up with the everyday hustle. But one thing that has transformed my home is the gentle power of aromatherapy.
Today, I want to talk about using essential oils for peace and calming. Imagine walking into your home and instantly feeling a wave of calm wash over you and your family. It’s possible, and with the right oils and blends, we can create a tranquil atmosphere for ourselves and our loved ones.
Why Aromatherapy for Peace?
Essential oils have been used for centuries to promote emotional and physical well-being. Certain oils, like lavender and chamomile, have calming properties that can help reduce stress, ease anxiety, and create a peaceful environment. Whether you’re trying to calm down after a hectic day, help your little ones relax before bedtime, or take a moment for yourself, these oils can be your secret weapon.
5 Essential Oil Recipes for Peace and Calming
Here are some of my favorite blends for creating a calm and peaceful atmosphere in your home. You can use these blends in a diffuser, or you can create roll-ons to apply directly to the skin. I’ve included dilutions for different age groups, so you can safely use these on young children, older children, and adults.
1. Lavender & Chamomile Serenity
This blend is a classic for a reason! Lavender is known for its calming properties, and Roman Chamomile soothes both mind and body. Perfect for bedtime or whenever you need a moment of peace.
- Recipe:
- 3 drops Lavender
- 2 drops Roman Chamomile
- 1 drop Cedarwood
Dilution:
- For children 2-10: Use 1 drop of the blend in 1 tsp of carrier oil.
- For children 10-18: Use 3 drops in 1 tsp of carrier oil.
- For adults: Use 5 drops in 1 tsp of carrier oil or diffuse the blend in your diffuser.
2. Citrus Bliss Calm
Citrus oils are uplifting but also have calming effects when blended with grounding oils like frankincense. This blend is great for daytime peace when you still need to feel bright and energized.
- Recipe:

- 2 drops Frankincense
- 1 drop Bergamot
Dilution:
- For children 2-10: Use 1 drop of the blend in 1 tsp of carrier oil. Avoid direct sunlight for 12 hours after applying this blend as citrus oils can increase photosensitivity.

- For adults: Use 5 drops in 1 tsp of carrier oil, or diffuse for a light, fresh atmosphere.
3. Grounding Peace with Vetiver

Safety Tips for Essential Oil Use
When using essential oils for children, always dilute properly and avoid oils that may be too strong or irritating for young skin. Remember, children’s skin is more sensitive, and a little goes a long way!
- Children (2-10 years old): Use a 0.5-1% dilution, which means about 1 drop of essential oil per teaspoon of carrier oil.
- Older children (10-18 years old): You can use a 1-2% dilution, which is about 3 drops per teaspoon of carrier oil.
- Adults: A 2-5% dilution is typical for adults, which equates to 5 drops per teaspoon of carrier oil.
For diffusing, always check the room size and limit the time for younger children to avoid overstimulation.
Creating a Peaceful Routine with Essential Oils
The beauty of aromatherapy is that you can easily integrate it into your daily routine. Whether it’s diffusing oils in the morning for a peaceful start or using calming roll-ons during the day, the key is consistency. Over time, you’ll notice a shift in the atmosphere of your home—there’s a reason nature gives us these wonderful oils!
Feel free to experiment with these blends and make them your own. And remember, this journey is about finding what works best for you and your family. Peace and calm are within reach—one drop at a time.
I hope these recipes help you create a peaceful environment in your home! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or want to share your own favorite blends. We’re on this journey together, one drop of calm at a time.
